GOOD NEWS FROM THE TALLULA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 3-25-19
As Easter approaches, which in my opinion is the holiest time of the Christian religion, I find myself taking stock of what is important in my daily Christian life. Do I live as Jesus commanded me to live by loving my neighbor? Or do I find it easier to just nod my head in recognition and move on? John 3:17 is most important when trying to figure out my relationship with God. “For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” (Taken from the National Revised Standard Version of the Bible.)
First, accept Jesus Christ as the path to eternal life, then live a life always striving for a perfect Christian life, but always knowing you will fall short. We are to try to live the perfect life knowing our human frailties will always be a cause for us to pray, acknowledge our sins ,and ask for forgiveness.
Our little church has been active these past couple of weeks. The family of Thomas Dierks hosted a celebratory memorial at the church and donated a bench in the family’s memory. The DAR also held a blood drive at the church on March 18th.
I have noticed that our attendance has been down lately at church, largely due to weather. I always look at quality instead of quantity when I count Christians. In a little country church, we must have wisdom and patience in the Lord and with the Lord when it comes to attendance. We pray that our attendance will bloom with the coming of Spring! Finally, the church has a lot of people that are in need of prayer. There are those that are sick or injured, those in the nursing homes and hospitals, and our military men and women around the world. The fact is, everyone is in need of prayer. “It’s me, it’s me oh lord, standing in the need of prayer.” We would like to extend a personal invitation to each of you to come visit the Tallula Christian Church. Sunday worship services start a little after 10:30 am every Sunday morning. All are welcome at the Tallula Christian Church! We are easy to find just three short blocks north of downtown Tallula at 311 North Yates. As we always say, “We’ll leave the light on for you, the light of Christ.”
