When someone passes away, even if you are good friends with them and their family, words can be hard to find when you want to express the sympathy and sadness you feel. The Tallula Christian Church recently said goodbye to one of our most beloved members, Virginia LeMar. Virginia and her late husband, Bill, were members of the church for many decades, devoting their lives to Christ and working diligently for Him through the church, and made an impact on each and every person they met while do...

Happy Independence Day to all and a big “thanks” to Bud and Sue for inviting us all to their home to view the fireworks display at the lake.

The congregation sends out their prayers to the Bill Smith family and his wife Loraine on the passing of Bill. Pastor Jim Poll was honored to direct his funeral service. Our prayers also go out to Brenda and family of our friend and neighbor Doug Schnapp on his passing. The church was honored to host Doug’s family for his service...

Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day. I’ve got a beautiful feeling everything is going my way. Lord, the congregation gives thanks for the many blessings You have bestowed upon us.

Here at the Tallula Christian Church we are working hard to get life back to normal while still being cautious in keeping everyone’s safety and health a priority. We have been working on remodeling our kitchen so we can have more room for potlucks and gatherings. A big “tha...

As I write this, Christmas has passed and I hope you and your loved ones are well and have a Blessed New Year.

Many and some of my friends say they are neutral when it comes to believing in God and Christianity. Most of these people when you witness to them realize that if you follow the day-to-day life of a Christian, that it is a good way to go through life.

I would never belittle another view on life or religio...

Ophelia used to come on stage and give a big “How-Dee” to the audience. She always had a hat

on and if I remember it right, it had the price tag hanging off of the hat. You might ask who this

is and how does this relate to this message? She always seemed happy and up to the task of

sharing her good attitude with others.

Being a Christian, everyone ...

Matthew 27:3-7 says:

3 When Judas, his betrayer, saw that he was condemned, he repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned in betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.” 5 And throwing down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed; and he went and hanged himself. 6 But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “I...

First of all, congratulations to Anne Smith for the well-deserved awards she recently received. Anne has truly been a blessing to the community through her labors!

Our Fall season started a little warmer than usual, but it seems that Fall has finally arrived with the cooler temperatures. Crops are still a little green, but with human patience and wisdom, the harvesting will eventually be in full force. As I write this, I...

Our pastor, Gretchen Barron, was out recently – we welcomed her back this past Sunday! We thank Harold Smith for filling the pulpit during her absence! We have been blessed with excellent preachers and we thank them for their teaching.

Music, loud or soft, makes up a big part of our lives. We are blessed by a very good Music director at the Tallula Christian Church. Paula serves as our Music Director, ...

Like a calf with a nice green pasture, who sticks his head through the fence to get at a the same thing that is right under his feet, we as Christians sometimes are always looking too. Here at the Tallula Christian Church we strive for that perfect Christian life, but fall short since we are human. That being said, I think being content with knowing Christ died for our sins and assured us of eter...

By the time this is read, Easter services and the Easter Egg Hunts will be over. We sometimes say crucified without thinking what an awful and painful death our Savior suffered. One of the main cogs in the wheel of our faith is that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father to witness to God about you and me of our time on earth.

What a spiritual and educational s...
