The Tallula Christian Church is pleased to announce the appointment of our new pastor, JIM POLL.
Jim was raised in Ohio, but has spent the last fifty (50) years in Central Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministries in 1972 from Lincoln Christian College (now known as Lincoln Christian University). He then received his Master of Divinity degree in Christian Ministries from Lincoln Christian Seminary in 1979.
He served the Akers Chapel Church of Christ from 1975-1994 as the preaching minister. During that time, he also received a Master of Ministry degree from Kentucky Christian College (1990), served on the board of a tri-state television program entitled “By the Way”, was a volunteer chaplain at Blessing Hospital, and served as faculty member and dean of church camp sessions for high school students as well as dean of camp retreats for single adults.
Jim worked at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois for 17 years as a driver for cardiologists to rural hospitals where they had an outpatient clinic. He retired in 2016.
Jim worshipped regularly at West Side Christian Church in Springfield, participating in hospital calling and teaching Sunday School as needed. He also provided supply preaching as needed in area Christian Churches.
